The Tortoise and the Hare

Once upon a time, there was a hare and a tortoise.

The hare could run very fast. He was proud of himself.

The tortoise was slow. But he was kind and never gave up.

One day, the hare laughed at the tortoise.

“You are so slow!” he said.

The tortoise smiled.

“Let’s have a race,” he said.

The hare laughed again.

“Of course! I will win.”

The race started.

The hare ran very fast.

Soon, he was far ahead.

He looked back.

The tortoise was still walking slowly.

The hare thought,

“I have plenty of time.”

He sat under a tree and fell asleep.

The tortoise did not stop.

He walked slowly.

Step by step.

He kept going.

After a long time, the hare woke up.

“Oh no!” he cried.

He ran as fast as he could.

But it was too late.

The tortoise crossed the finish line first.

The animals clapped and cheered.

The hare felt sorry.

The tortoise smiled and said,

“Slow and steady wins the race.”
